UK can cope with any risks in Huawei switchgear, says NCSC

The decision could have an effect on other countries which are considering whether to ban Huawei from bidding for 5G contracts.

The FT quotes a source as saying: “Other nations can make the argument that if the British are confident of mitigation against national security threats then they can also reassure their publics and the U.S. administration that they are acting in a prudent manner in continuing to allow their telecommunications service providers to use Chinese components as long as they take the kinds of precautions recommended by the British.”

The NCSC, pictured below, which has a special unit for looking at Huawei equipment called the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre (HCSEC), says it has never found evidence of backdoors in the Huawei equipment it has reviewed.
