Hynix to invest $107bn in fab

Hynix sees the investment as being necessary to ward off the threat of China which is building memory fabs.

The fabs will be built on an existing 4.5 million square metre fab site with two front end facilities south of Seoul.

Hynix is the world No.3 chip maker with $37.7 billion in sales last year which was 41% up on 2017 sales.

Hynix is the second largest DRAM maker and holds a 70%+ market share with Samsung,
